
Tanzanite is a relatively new blue gemstone introduced by Tiffany's. It's unique blue color is fabulous. Tanzanite is wonderful to wear in any form but tanzanite rings and tanzanite pendants are most popular.

Tanzanite gemstones may be blue, purple or slate gray. It is a rare blue-purple zoisite. Tanzanite gem has a hardness rating of 6.5.
Colors of this beautiful gemstone range from light violet-blue to ultramarine blue. The highest quality is blue with a hint of purple throughout. Often tanzanite jewelry will appear to have a different color (blue, purple, or brownish yellow) from alternate angles.
Tanzanite is often heat treated to improve its color and clarity. Heat treating often remove most if not all brownish-yellow in this stone.
Tanzanite rings can easily be scratched or chipped. Clean your jewelry with warm, soapy water and a soft bristle brush. Avoid using ultrasonic cleaning for this gemstone.
This wonderful gemstone was found in Tanzania in 1967. It was named after the East African state where it was found. Tanzanite is exclusively mined in Tanzania.
